The first American whiskey to be named “Whisky Of The Year” by UK-based The Whisky Exchange, Michter’s US★1 Original Sour Mash expression is the perfect balance between bourbon and rye. It is this award-winning whiskey that is at the heart of our Michter’s Barrel Strength Sour Mash Whiskey. Its unique grain selection means it cannot be categorized as a bourbon or rye, but it strikes the perfect balance between the two. It is distilled to Master Distiller Dan McKee’s exacting specifications according to our classic Sour Mash method before being matured in new charred white oak barrels until Michter’s Master of Maturation Andrea Wilson and the Michter’s tasting panel deem it ready to batch at barrel strength. It is then further mellowed by Sour signature filtration. We are proud to offer this special release of Sour Barrel Strength Kentucky Sour Mash Whiskey.
